RENEWED COLLABORATION WITH LANDBRAUEREI TOBIAS MOHRMANN
Following the great success of last year’s two welcome drinks at the Prophetic Overture on Thursday that received enthusiastic feedback, Prophecy Fest and Landbrauerei Tobias Mohrmann have decided to continue their collaboration. The local craft beer brewery will again provide the ‘Willkommentrunk’ (“welcome drink”) on Thursday.
The Prophetic Overture has quickly become an established tradition at Prophecy Fest. This relaxed social gathering on Thursday afternoon kicks off the event with grill fires, barbecue, live music, and a welcome drink or two on the house. On this occasion, all visitors are very welcome to bring their own food and beverages as well. Visitors need to show their fest wristband to receive a welcome drink.
This year, master brewer Tobias Mohrmann has a special plan (spoiler alert): One of the beers will be brewed for Prophecy Fest from one of his recipes and the other one will be brewed following the instructions of EMPYRIUM and THE VISION BLEAK mastermind Markus Stock!
GUIDED TOUR & FREE ADMISSION TO LUISENHÜTTE
On Friday, September 6, Prophecy Fest visitors may join a historical city tour led by a local expert. This time the focus will be on the period between the years 1592 and 1666, in which Balve became a notorious centre of witch hunts. Hundreds of women but also men stood accused of witchcraft, were tortured, tried in courts, and often brutally executed. Please note that the tours will be held in German language. Starting times are at 11:00 and 12:00 CEST. The number of tickets is limited and they are already available for 6 Euro through the ticket shop.
The local council Märkischer Kreis has decided this spring to offer free admission to all public museums within its borders. This includes the Luisenhütte close to the Cave of Balve. For details and opening times, please check this website (available languages: DE, UK, FR, NL): https://www.visitbalve.de
CHANGES TO THE TECHNICAL SET-UP CONCERNING THE SECOND STAGE
Following last year’s event, we had asked for feedback on the second stage, which had been introduced in 2023.
Thanks to everybody contributing. Remarkably, about half of the visitors replied, which indicates strong interest. A slim majority voted in favour of continuing with two stages.
Firstly, all bands on the second stage will play one show. There will be no soundchecks on the second stage during main stage shows, meaning no interference at all.
Secondly, there will be breaks again during which no band is playing on any stage.
Thanks to the second stage, Prophecy Fest can continue to offer exciting talent and rare treats a chance to present themselves.
STOP THE DESTRUCTION OF THE HÖNNE VALLEY! PRESERVE THE HOMELAND.
The Lhoist Group, a Belgian company operating worldwide for the extraction of lime and minerals with 12 plants in Germany, wants to push ahead with lime mining in the Hönne Valley. The valley with its many caves, natural and cultural monuments is a gem in the Sauerland region. This unique, wonderful karst area with its special flora and fauna must be preserved as a whole for future generations. The large-scale lime mining that is destroying the landscape must be stopped. For this we support the Hönnetal Foundation and ask for participation in the petition for the protection of this area.
